This distinguished initiative aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements in Spokane's built environment. With a focus on three main categories – Historic, Building Improvements, and Sustainability – the program honors visionary individuals, teams, and projects that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to excellence in their respective fields.


The 2023 Building Excellence Categories:

2023 Winner:

The Catalyst

This award is to recognize a project that increased a building’s sustainability, decreased energy use, increased tenant/occupant comfort and safety, and/or design and construction of a new building with exemplary sustainability practices.

New construction or upgrade. The project must have been completed in 2022 or 2023.

2023 Winner:

The Parkade

This award is to recognize an interior or exterior upgrade project. The minimum project cost is $50,000. Whether through innovative renovations, technology integration, or creative redesigns, we seek to recognize those who have revitalized structures to meet the evolving needs of our city.

New construction or upgrade. The project must have been completed in 2022 or 2023.

2023 Winner:

The Paulsen Building

This award is to identify and celebrate the remarkable historic buildings that have played a pivotal role in shaping Spokane's unique identity and character. Buildings must be 75 years of age or older. The property must retain a high degree of historical integrity and must be currently occupied or have constructive plans in place for its use.

TW Clark

This award is to appreciate individuals who go above and beyond for the commercial buildings in Spokane! You can nominate anyone that made a significant contribution to a commercial building environment this year. It can be anyone from janitorial staff, painters, general contractors, security teams, building engineers, and more. You can nominate someone from your own team or someone from another team. Let’s identify, recognize, and celebrate those who go the extra mile for Spokane’s built spaces.
